Meghan’s knowledge of Italy is outstanding. Traveling with her throughout the country has been such a gift. Her Italian is flawless, and she’s incredibly kind, compassionate, and gentle.

In Rome, she’s introduced me to her favorite hidden gems, places I never would have discovered on my own. From the best cornetti and cocktails to unforgettable cookies, cheeses, and wines – every moment feels curated with love and intention.

Visiting Italy with Meghan is more than a trip – it’s an experience you truly don’t want to miss.

What stood out most about Meghan was how she took all the stress out of travel. She accompanied us to a beach outside Rome and chose a club with full amenities and a lively bar – everything we could want in one place.

On top of that, she seemed to know restaurant owners in both Rome and the seaside town, and we were welcomed like old friends everywhere we went.

The food was authentic and incredible, never a tourist trap. Meghan’s connections and care made every experience feel warm, genuine, and unforgettable.

My wife and I have spent our lives on a corn, soybean, and cattle farm in rural Iowa – a world away from Rome. During our pilgrimage to the Eternal City, we met Meghan, a fellow midwesterner, at a restaurant and she promptly made sure we were treated like the special guests of a packed restaurant. From the first glass poured, she made us feel welcome and at ease, sharing her knowledge of the incredible food and wine, as well as her multi-faceted knowledge of Rome, and life in Italy in general.

She also pointed us toward a few shops and boutiques selling high-quality Italian-made goods — the kind of things we could bring home for ourselves and for family, as lasting reminders of our trip. She also gave us priceless, practical advice on which tourist traps to avoid, saving us from disappointment – and potential food poisoning – and helping us make the most of our time.

Meghan is fluent in Italian and embraced by the locals, thus helping us see the city through her eyes – full of history, flavor, and warmth. That evening became one of the highlights of our trip, and left us eager to explore more of Rome with her on our next visit.

As someone who has known Meghan for years, I can say beyond a doubt that she has incredible taste.

My now husband and I got engaged on our last trip to Rome and on our last day in the Eternal City, we went out to dinner with Meghan. Without even telling her the occasion, she took us to the most romantic and cozy garden patio for dinner. This was right around Halloween, so the air was crisp and the food was warm. She selected some incredible wines for us to enjoy while catching up, sharing our news, and enjoying the lively atmosphere.

Dinner in Rome is meant to be savored, and Meghan knew just what to order, who to talk to, and where to go to make our final meal (of an admittedly life-changing trip) memorable and special.

If Meghan tells you a place is worth checking out, you would be foolish to pass it by. And if you have the opportunity to see Rome in her company, it is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

With Meghan, Rome didn’t feel like a checklist of sights – it felt like a city we belonged in.

She got us into a rooftop bar over the Pantheon where we were treated like queens, and she made wandering around Trastevere unforgettable by weaving the neighborhood’s history with its modern buzz.

It’s rare to find someone who can make a city both exciting and effortless, but that’s exactly what she does. She has the kind of insider magic you can’t fake.

Before My Friend in Italy

I had seen all Rome’s most famous sites, museums, and piazzas, but I was ready to move on and without a desire to return. I’m a fairly well-traveled person and always do plenty of research, but after a month of exploring Rome on my own, I felt completely disconnected and disappointed—in part due to what felt like constant scams as soon as they heard me speak English. After three incredible tours with Meghan, she completely changed my mind.

Because of her beautiful personality, casual competence, and personal connections, we were treated like honored guests everywhere we went. I wasn’t just experiencing Rome like a local – I was experiencing it as an important local. Our time was truly authentic and unique. I made friends that I still keep in touch with, ate such special dishes – from mouth-watering Roman street food to gold-dusted cod – rang a church’s bell announcing evening service to the neighborhood, tried octopus for the first time (and second because it’s great), walked a few streets shown in one of the movies I love, hung out in the most amazing places right in the city with only two other people nearby, and learned inspiring tidbits of history just because I asked about a sign on the side of a building—a glimpse into what it’s like to love and be loved by Rome. Everyone needs to know about My Friend in Italy.

Our time with Meghan was exactly the kind of personable and engaging experience we were looking for in Rome. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I left with a greater appreciation of Rome, a full stomach, and a new friend.

I feel like we were let in on some local Roman secrets! The tour was personable and full of genuine insights – something you can only find from a true local!

Our tour was the perfect balance of learning and an all around good-hang. Every stop came to life, and we will remember this for years to come! There’s no better feeling than to be able to say “You HAVE to meet My Friend in Italy.”

Our group had a wonderful time with My Friend in Italy when we visited Rome this past May. Meghan introduced us to authentic spots that we never would have seen otherwise, and her depth of knowledge and connections to the city made our experience that much richer.

One of the highlights was aperitivo at a rooftop bar off the beaten path. The rooftop wasn’t even open to guests, but Meghan somehow managed to get us a table. We shared cocktails, apps, and stories against the backdrop of an incredible view of Rome.

She sent us off with several recommendations for the rest of our stay that made our trip that much better. I highly recommend spending an afternoon with Meghan to get a genuine taste of Rome!
